The electric buses arrived

The new electric buses have started running on Route 706 between Santa Apolónia and Cais do Sodré.

This is CARRIS' first career with electric buses and an important step for the company in renewing its fleet and on the way to full decarbonisation by 2040.

A strong commitment is being made to the greater comfort of these equipment, preserving the quality of the air and the environment. These 100% electric standard buses, from the national manufacturer Caetano Bus, have 12 meters long and capacity for 71 passengers (34 seats, 36 feet and 1 Reduced Mobility - electric ramp).

These vehicles have zero emissions of air pollutants, equipped with state-of-the-art and extremely quiet batteries. Each kilometre travelled with the new electric buses avoids the emission of 1.5 kg of CO2.

The new electric buses also have a significant reduction in energy and maintenance costs. These vehicles have an autonomy of 170 kilometres and their average charging time is 5 hours.

This launch was celebrated with RFM, aboard one of the 706 electric buses, where it broadcast the Café da Manhã program.
