Under 18 and under 23

Who it’s for?
  • Students aged 4 to 18 inclusive;
  • Students aged 19 to 23, inclusive, who are attending secondary, vocational (compulsory education) or university courses;

Access is extended to young people up to the age of 24 attending courses with an integrated study cycle, namely Architecture and Urbanism, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine.

 

How to access?

You should go to one of our shops or kiosks and present the necessary documents to be issued with a card under the following conditions:

For the navegante® sub18:

  • Personalised navegante card (*)
  • Identification document;
  • Tax identification number (confirmed by presenting the identification document/other document proving the Portuguese NIF);
  • Contact details (address, e-mail and mobile phone).

 

For the navegante® sub23, in addition to the documentation mentioned above, the enrolment declaration issued by the educational establishment where the student is enrolled must be submitted.
The following educational establishments\courses are eligible:

  • Primary/Secondary (national educational establishment)
  • Professional - Courses from the national qualifications catalogue of the Agência Nacional para a Qualificação e o Ensino Profissional, I.P. (ANQEP, I.P.) with a duration of one academic year or more.
  • Higher Education Courses and Professional Higher Technical Courses - Approved by the Direção Geral do Ensino Superior (DGES).

Proof of enrolment for professional courses must include the mention that they are courses in the national qualifications catalogue of the Agência Nacional para a Qualificação e o Ensino Profissional, I.P. (ANQEP, I.P.) with a duration of one academic year or more. This document must be validated by the institution.

 

(*) If the customer already has a personalised navegante card, this profile is updated on the customer’s card. If this is not the case, a new card can be requested at this stage by handing in the usual navegante card request form (normal mode) or in-store with the “Pass in 15 minutes” option, the cost of which will be borne by the customer.

 

Note: For customers under the age of 16, the Card Application Form must be completed and signed by their legal representative, who must present their own identification document, as well as that of the person they represent and the document proving their capacity as legal representative.

 

If the holder is over 16 years of age, all that is required is the presentation of an identification document showing their parentage.

 

Loading

Once the Student profile (Under 18 under 23) is active, it is possible to load the transport ticket for January, with metropolitan coverage, at zero value, at one of our CARRIS shops or kiosks.

For whom it is intended

Over 65 years with fiscal domicile in Lisbon.
The loss of eligibility of the gratuity must be reported by the beneficiary in the CARRIS Shops or in the Customer Support Offices of the other Operators.

How to access

Make an initial adhesion in the CARRIS Shops, or in the Customer Support Offices of the other Operators, in which the titles are valid delivering/presenting, annually, the following documentation:

  • Valid personalized Navegante card

 

If the customer already has personalized Navegant card, this profile is updated on the customer card. Otherwise, it may be requested at this stage the issuance of a new card, with the delivery of the usual navigating card request (normal mode) or carried out in store in the "Pass in 15 minutes" strand, and the cost of it will be borne by the customer.

  • Present personalized Navegante Card with third age profile;
  • Present Citizen Card or other equivalent valid document;
  • Deliver tax domicile certificate (taken from the Finance website).
Monthly shipment

After completing the steps mentioned, simply upload the title Urban Navegante, third age, monthly, in a CARRIS Store or Kiosk, Payshopor at the ATM*.

The title Urban Navegant thrid age is valid for 30 consecutive days, from the date of loading, so the new loading must be done before the end of the validity period of the title previously loaded.

It is valid in the urban network of CARRIS and Metro, within the Municipality of Lisbon, and in the CP to Benfica (Sintra Line), Belém (Cascais Line), and Moscavide (Azambuja Line). It does not include the crossing of the 25 de Abril Bridge. It is not possible, within the scope of gratuity, to upgrade to other titles of metropolitan coverage.

 

*Only available for recharging. The first recharge can only be done in a Shop or Kiosk.

For over 65s who have a valid Navegante card with a senior citizen (or + 65) profile.

How to get it

Go to a CARRIS Shop: Santo Amaro, Arco do Cego or Saldanha and hand in your Navegante card or the following documents:

 

  • Completed application form (the application is handed in at the operator's point of sale).

  • Citizen's Card, Passport or Residence Permit.

  • Recent, original, colour passport photo, with a plain background, head uncovered and without dark glasses – except in specific situations that have been duly substantiated.

    Adhesion to the 3rd age profile can be done 30 days before the date on which you turn 65.

Children

Children aged up to 3 can travel on CARRIS free of charge. No Navegante card is necessary. If proof is required, just show the child's identification document.

What it is

It's a navegante® card that gives you free access to the public transport network in the Lisbon metropolitan area. It also offers free access to EGEAC monuments and museums for primary, secondary and high school students living in Lisbon, and a discount for non-residents.

Beneficiaries
All students attending a public or private school in the city of Lisbon between the 1st and 12th grades.
Until the student reaches the age of 19, the navegante® School card will allow free access to the public transport network in the 18 municipalities of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. From the age of 19, in order to obtain free travel, they must prove that they are attending a secondary school.
How to get it

First issue of the School Navegante card must be requested by parents and guardians at https://www.lisboa.pt/cidade/mobilidade/cartao-navegante-escola.

 

The cards will then be delivered to the respective School Grouping Directions to be delivered to the respective students.

Price

The first issue of the card is completely free of charge.

In case of loss, you should go to the CARRIS Shops of Arco Cego, Santo Amaro or Saldanha and request a 2nd way of the card (it will cost 5,30€).

If the card ceases to function and if this anomaly is not due to misuse of the card, you should go to the school registry and ask for it to be replaced.

 

Retirees and pensioners whose household income is less than or equal to the minimum national wage.

How to get it

Go to a CARRIS Shop (Santo Amaro, Arco do Cego or Saldanha) and present a valid Navegante Card and the documentation below.

  • Printed form completed, obtained in a CARRIS Store or downloading here, contemplating:
    • confirmation of the composition of the household by the Parish Council of the residence;
    • Confirmation of the value of household income by the respective Tax Office (this value may also be evidenced by a copy of the IRS statement or a separate statement of the Tax Office). the annual household income must be equal to or less than the minimum monthly wage, multiplied by 14;

  • Presentation of the Citizen’s Card or Passport or Residence Permit;
  • Original and photocopy of the proof of pension or pension value, issued by the General Pension Fund or National Pension Fund.

The Social+ discount is for households proven to be low income.

Calculation of the Average Monthly Income of the Household

In order to calculate the average monthly income of the household, the following categories of income are deemed relevant:

 

  • Gross value of income from work;
  • Gross value of income from pensions;
  • Gross value of social payments made by the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security Services and Bodies;

 

All other gross income earned by the household.

 

The average monthly income per member of the household is calculated using the following formula:

Note:

The household is composed of taxable persons and dependents. The identification and TIN of the taxable persons and the composition of the household must be made in the IRS Model 3 Declaration.

The Family Navegante is a fixed monthly pass purchased by one of the members of the household and loaded on all the Navegante cards for that household.

 

Geographical validity

It is valid on any route, on all regular public transport service operators in a single municipality (Family Municipal Navegante) or in all 18 municipalities in the AML (Family Metropolitan Navegante).

 

Who may request

It is valid for previously defined households with proven residence in one of the 18 municipalities in the Lisbon Metropolitan Area and consisting of 3 or more members.

 

For access to the Family Navegante Pass, the applicant, the head of the household, and the following people are considered to be part of the same household:

a) Spouse, or unmarried partner of more than two years;

b) Direct relatives and similar (grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, father-in-law, mother-in-law, children, grandchildren…), of the head of the household, or their unmarried partner of more than two years;

c) Adopted children and guardians of the head of the household or their unmarried partner, as well as minors entrusted to them by a legal or administrative decision made by the legally competent bodies or services.

 

How to obtain

The applicant must go to the offices of one of the regular public transport service operators (for CARRIS, at Santo Amaro, Arco Cego and Saldanha) and hand in the following documents for themselves and the members of their household, according to the characteristics of each household.

If the Tax Authority (AT) has insufficient information or no information, other means of confirming the members of the household may be required before the application is accepted.

 

Renew

The creation of the household is valid for one year. Before this deadline expires, the responsible applicant must request the renewal in order to continue to load the Family Navegante pass.
In order to renew, the elements should maintain the conditions of the aggregate that allowed their creation, proven by the delivery of all the necessary documentation.

 

Once the household has been created, just load the Navegante cards for each member of the household each month.
