Further information on prepaid tickets

Valid on the entire CARRIS network and on the Metro

You can make an unlimited number of journeys for 60 minutes (counting from the first to the last entrance validation).

You can't make two consecutive trips on the Metro network, but this is possible on CARRIS.

Valid for an unlimited number of journeys on the entire CARRIS network and on the Metro for 24 hours (counting from the first validation).

Valid for an unlimited number of journeys on the entire CARRIS network, on the Metro and on Transtejo (between Cacilhas and Cais do Sodré) for 24 hours (counting from the first validation).

Valid for an unlimited number of journeys on the entire CARRIS network, on the Metro and CP (Lisbon urban rail service which includes the Sintra, Azambuja, Cascais and Sado lines) network for 24 hours (counting from the first validation).

This ticket can also be loaded on a Lisboa VIVA/ Navegante card.

The minimum amount that can be loaded is €3 and you can make top-ups of multiples of €5, up to a maximum card balance of €40.

On CARRIS, 1 Zapping journey is valid for 1 hour on the entire regular service network, which means you can travel on any of the routes for 1 hour.

Changing Operator means your ticket is no longer valid on the previous Operator, and the price and time validity comes into force on the new Operator. The price of the journey you make is deducted from the remaining balance on your card, according to the fares and usage conditions of each operator.

If your VIVA Viagem/7 Colinas/ Navegante card is lost or stolen, your Zapping balance will not be refunded or transferred to another card.

If your Lisboa VIVA/ Navegante card is lost or stolen, your Zapping balance can be transferred to another card (Lisboa VIVA/ Navegante or VIVA Viagem/ Navegante) under the conditions set for this purpose.

If your VIVA Viagem/7 Colinas/ Navegante card stops working, your Zapping balance may be transferred to another card. If your Zapping balance cannot be read on the faulty card, the transfer can only be made after 5 business days have elapsed.

If the card is no longer valid, or if necessary, the Zapping balance can be transferred to another card, provided that the balance can be read by the operators' systems.

A card that has passed its expiry date but that still has a valid balance can be used until the balance is used up.

VIVA Go is an innovative mobility payment solution that allows holders of Lisboa VIVA/ Navegante cards to pay as they go, debiting the value of the journey directly to the cardholder's bank account.

To use VIVA Go, just sign up at a MULTIBANCO or ATM Express cashpoint and associate your bank account with your Lisboa VIVA/ Navegante transport card.

The same Lisboa VIVA/ Navegante card can have VIVA Go for occasional journeys, along with your usual passes or zapping tickets loaded. It serves as an alternative whenever there are no other valid fare contracts for the time and place required. The operators' systems will give priority to the tickets for frequent use, such as loaded passes, over the VIVA Go option.

This card allows free access to the CARRIS and Metro networks and the Sintra and Cascais CP railway lines, as well as Museums and Monuments with discounts of up to 50%.

Support cards for prepaid tickets

To get your card and load prepaid tickets onto it, go to any CARRIS network sales point or the other participating transport operators.

Price: €0.50

Validity: 1 year

After this period, you have to get a new card. If you still have tickets loaded on it, you can request the balance to be transferred to your new card.

You can only load one type of ticket on these cards. If you want to load a different type, you have to use up all of the previous balance first.

You can check the balance of these cards at any sales point on the CARRIS network or, when you're travelling, by using the validation machine on the vehicles.

If the card still has an available balance, but it can't be read, go to a CARRIS Support Office, where the status of your card will be assessed.

If your card isn't working, has no visible damage and is still within the validity period, it will be replaced free of charge.

If your card is damaged or the validity period has expired, the cost of replacement will be paid by the customer.

  • The card can be reloaded for one year. Don’t throw it away during this time;

  • Always keep the proof of loading with your card;

  • When you validate your card, be careful to ensure it's not near other contactless cards;
