CARRIS was a pioneer in Portugal on video surveillance systems implementation in vehicles for passenger public transport.

In March 2008, the entire fleet of public service, with about 800 vehicles were equipped with these systems. The use of video surveillance in Fleet Public Service of CARRIS is authorized by the National Commission for Data Protection.

Objectives of the video surveillance system

Improvement of conditions of physical and psychological safety of passengers and crew through the deterrence of acts of vandalism and crime
Increase the effectiveness of police actionsand criminal investigation, providing images that can be an important means of criminal investigation of acts committed inside the vehicles.

Video surveillance system composition

Recorder with removable disk
Digital VCR with high-speed recording, removable hard drive and special shock absorbers
Video cameras placed inside the vehicle
Equipment that allows the viewing of images saved to disk above.
